This site was written and created by Bruce Benderson, a novelist, essayist, cultural journalist and translator of French literature. He decided to call it TwistYourArm.com because, in his experience, few are at first willing to consider the insights that pop into his head. Quite often the same ideas reoccur and become part of the zeitgeist several years later; or, as his erstwhile friend, critic Camille Paglia, observed, “Wherever Bruce is, the culture will be five years later.” Unfortunately, he is seldom credited for those ideas at that later point in time, diluted and simplified as they often become.
You can find more, mostly half-truths about Bruce Benderson on wikipedia or by Google searching. If you just can’t resist speaking out directly to him, you may email him at bruvable@gmail.com, an address derived from French wordplay that even the French don’t seem to notice: “buvable” in French means “drinkable,’ and his first name is BRuce… Duh.
Don’t worry. Nobody gets it.
